[Wonder] 원더 영어 원서 읽기 단어정리 (1)

책 사두고 보관만 하다가 다시 공부하려고 꺼냈다.

챕터마다 화자가 다른데 대부분 어린 연령이라 영어문장이 어렵지 않다.

쉬운 문장을 익히고 뱉어내는 공부하기에 딱 좋은 영어책이다.

원더 Wonder 읽으면서 단어정리 시작!

petrified 극도로 무서워하는, 겁에 질린 = terrified

Since I've never been to a real school before, I am pretty much totally and completely petrified.

The audience were petrifed by the deafening noise. 

 

too big a deal 너무 중요하게 생각하다, 요란떨다, 대단하게 여기다

= to treat (something) as very important or too important

Maybe I'm making too big a deal about birthday parties.

You are making too big a deal out of this whole thing. 

 

crack up 빵 터지다, 마구 웃기 시작하다

It's not funny in the way a joke is funny, but when Mom tells it, Via and I just start cracking up.

 

delivery room 분만실

There were two nurses in the delivery room the night I was born.

bummed 낙담한, 실망한 (bummed out 꿀꿀한, 우울한)

= feel sad or disappointed

I was really bummed when Christopher moved away three years ago. 

 

a good fit for~ 잘 맞는, 어울리는

I don't think that would be a good fit for you. 

An interview isn't just about the interviewer seeing if you are a good fit for the company, you also need to use it to see if the company is a good fit for you. 

 

a part of me = 나의 일부분 = 한 편으로는, 가슴 한구석에는, ~한 면도 있다

Though a part of me knew Mom was right. 

I also find that there's a part of me that's like you have to be realistic about having a job and having a house.
